Avalanche 98-Series Dual Auger Grain Carts

The Brent® Avalanche® dual-auger grain carts have set powerful standards for unloading speed, convenience, capacity and durability.  The all-new 98-Series of Avalanche grain carts carry on this tradition and give the operator more auger side reach and height along with choice of right- or left-hand unloading to meet individual preferences.  The dual-auger design provides a narrow transport width and low profile for greater stability and ease of transport and features the fastest unloading speeds, no matter the moisture of grain.  In addition to the industry’s first pivoting vertical unloading auger, the 98-Series is standard with a 4-way directional downspout that is operated on the tractor’s SCV remotes.  The all-welded construction, rubber cushioned tongue suspension and heavy-duty dual-belt drive system ensure years of dependable service.  Capacities range  from 2,500 to 1,100 bushels and with unloading speeds up to 1,000 bushels per minute depending on model, operators can get back to the combine quicker to keep harvest moving smoothly.  Bigger, faster, better.  The Avalanche 98-Series dual-auger grain carts feature dynamic performance that now pivots to new heights.

    Auger

    Unloading

    • Unload up to 1,000 bushels per minute, even in high-moisture grain, on models 2598 and 2098 with a 24" vertical unloading auger and 20" horizontal floor auger.  Models 1598, 1398 and 1198 feature a 22” vertical auger and 20” horizontal auger for unloading up to 850 bushels per minute.
    • Models 2598 and 2098 feature a 36” longer vertical auger and models 1598, 1398 and 1198 feature a 25” longer vertical auger for increased auger height and side reach to clear taller trailers and reach over obstacles.
    • Depending on operator preference, the 98-Series grain carts can be ordered as a left- or right-hand unload from the factory.
    • Pivoting unloading auger provides up to 6' 5” of height adjustment and 5’ 1” of side reach adjustment depending on model.  This allows the operator to lower the auger to the truck and raise the auger when pulling away to clear obstacles.
      • Models 2598 and 2098 feature 16’ 6” of maximum auger height measured to the bottom of the downspout while models 1598, 1398 and 1198 feature 17’ 9” of maximum auger height.
      • Models 2598 and 2098 feature 8’ 5” of maximum side reach measured to the downspout while models 1598, 1398 and 1198 feature 9’ 1” of maximum side reach.
    • Three high-output LED spotlights located on the unloading auger downspout feature a compact design and durable construction for convenient nighttime operation.
    • The unloading auger fits completely within the cart's width for transport and storage ease and an easy-to-operate auger stand provides in-field position resulting in quicker raising and lowering.
    • A pilot operated check valve in the hydraulic system creates a positive seal between the upper and lower vertical unloading auger to prevent grain leakage.
    • The vertical unloading auger features hydraulic fold cylinders with end-stroke cushioning to slow the upper auger just before landing in the road transport bracket or in the unload position.
    • The vertical auger's hinged cleanout door features tool free access which allows for cleanout.

    Auger Flighting

    • Exclusively designed 3/8” thick max-edge auger flighting features 1/4” thick Abrasion Resistant (AR400) strips added in high volume areas for a total of 5/8” thick flighting, which extends the auger life approximately 20%.
      • AR400 material is a high-carbon alloy steel that is harder and increases the durability of the steel.
      • Electronic balancing of the upper and lower auger flighting provides smooth operation at all speeds.
      • Two-point auger engagement between the upper and lower vertical auger sections ensures a smooth transition of grain and reduces shock during startup.
      • Patented soft-start auger connection cushions the upper and lower vertical augers from harsh tractor PTO engagements which reduces stress and extends the driveline life.

    4-Way Downspout

    • Standard 4-way directional downspout allows the operator to easily move the downspout in-and-out and side-to-side for precise grain placement with limited movement of the tractor, saving wear on the tractor’s drivetrain.
      • 5 SCV hydraulic remotes are required on the tractor to operate the 4-way downspout, auger fold/unfold, auger pivot up/down and open/close the flow gates.  Models 2598, 2098 and 1598 are standard with a hydraulic jack which requires an additional SCV remote.
      • An optional pistol-grip joystick controller is available and combines all hydraulic functions onto 1 SCV hydraulic remote.  The pistol-grip remote allows the operator to move around in the tractor cab while holding the remote for comfortable unloading.

    Drivetrain

    • The exclusive drivetrain design on Avalanche grain carts combines a belt drive for the 20" horizontal auger and a heavy-duty direct-drive 90-degree gearbox for the vertical auger.
      • The belt-drive features dual, four-strand belts and dual spring-loaded tensioners for long life and easy maintenance and the floor auger can be manually disengaged if needed.
    • Quick-couple 1000 RPM P.T.O. shaft with overrunning cut-out clutch help protect driveline.
    • Standard PTO holder provides a dedicated and clean area to store the PTO when not in use, without having to unhook it from the grain cart.
    • Hydraulic hoses feature large color-coordinated grips for easier connection and the zinc-plated storage caddy with clear decaling keeps the hydraulic hoses organized during storage.

    Tank

    Tank Design

    • Models 2598, 2098, 1598, 1398 and 1198 feature large carrying capacities of 2500, 2000, 1500, 1300 and 1100 bushels to keep the combines running in high-yielding crops.
      • The Avalanche cart's dual-auger design allows the tank to have a lower profile and low center of gravity for greater in-field stability and easy combine unloading.
      • The steep floor slopes and recessed floor auger intake provide quick and clean unloading.
      • Standard 16" hydraulic flow-control gates over the horizontal floor auger feature a visible position indicator and allow the operator to meter the grain flow for precise control.

    Convenience Features

    • Rear, single-point opening cleanout panels permit easy cleanout between crops.
    • Convenient grease bank located on the lower vertical auger allows the operator to grease the lower vertical auger hanger bearing, the upper auger pivot pin, the vertical auger tilt pivot brackets and the horizontal auger center bearing from one central location.
    • Ergonomic side-mounted ladder extends away from the grain cart for easy access to the top of the tank.
    • Three front and two rear shatterproof viewing windows allow the operator to easily see inside of the tank to check load contents.
    • Interior tank-mounted LED spotlight allows the operator to easily check the tank’s contents at night.

    Weatherguard Tarp

    • All Brent Avalanche grain carts are standard with a Weatherguard rollover tarp for protecting the tank’s contents and feature a custom-design for the sleekest appearance and easiest operation.
      • Vented front and rear end caps allow air to escape to prevent pressure build-up.
      • Wind gust straps aid when rolling the tarp in windy conditions and ensures that it stays tight to the tarp bows while opening and closing.
      • Low-profile tarp bows are reinforced to eliminate sagging and the heavy-duty, 18 oz. black canvas can withstand harsh weather conditions.
      • Semi-trailer locking design provides optimum protection from high winds and moisture.

    Construction

    • The exclusive manufacturing process crimps sides for added strength and a sleek appearance and exposed seams are silicone sealed for corrosion resistance.
    • Flashing L.E.D. amber and red taillights with side-running lights, SMV sign and transport chains for safe road transport.
    • Durable top-coat of high-grade enamel paint is baked on in tractor red, green or metallic black for a smooth, automotive-like finish.

    Undercarriage

    Construction

    • Rubber-cushioned tongue suspension provides a smooth ride over the roughest terrain.
    • Tubular steel mainframe, 12-gauge steel shell, reinforced gusset wheel hub design and special-alloy, stress-proof spindles contribute to the durability of the grain cart.
    • Models 2598, 2098 and 1598 are standard with a hydraulic jack that can be operated from the tractor cab for quick and easy hookup to the tractor.
    • Models 1398 and 1198 feature a heavy-duty 12,000 lb. side-wind, drop-leg jack.

    High-Flotation Single Tires

    • High flotation single wheels and tires available on models 1398 and 1198 with a variety of tire sizes available depending on model.

    Walking Tandem Dual Tires

    • Walking tandem duals are available on models 1398 and 1198 and feature an innovative design that allows the cart to trail easily through the field.
      • Independent operation from front to rear allows the cart to "walk" over obstacles.
      • Can be adjusted for 30" or 36" row spacings and the entire wheel assembly swings out for easier tire/wheel maintenance.

    Self-Steering Tandem Tires

    • Self-steering tandems are available on models 2098 and 1598 where all four wheels automatically turn in unison with the tractor for enhanced maneuverability.
      • The oscillating design holds all four wheels on the ground to keep the weight spread out evenly for increased flotation.
      • For easy backing and tight turns, the hydraulic overdrive can be actuated by the operator and includes an incremental gauge for determining wheel direction.
        • This system requires 1 additional SCV remote on the tractor.
      • Model 2098 features patented Para-Link independent suspension from front to rear for ideal cart control and allows each tire to travel 6” upward and 6” downward independently from one another for the smoothest ride over uneven terrain.
        • Free-float steering design offers a 15° maximum turning angle and follows the direction of the tractor when in auto mode.
          • For easy backing and tight turns, the hydraulic override can be actuated by the operator to manually adjust the wheel turning angle and includes an incremental gauge for determining the wheel direction.
          • This system requires 1 additional SCV hydraulic remote on the tractor.

    Equalizer Tracks

    • Choose a 50” or 42” wide belt with a patented design that features 9° of side-to-side camber and 20° of front-to-back pivot with independent movement of each track for uniform ground contact on uneven terrain.
      • 50” wide track belt with 105” of ground contact length with a 4-bogie design is available on models 2598, 2098 & 1598 and features more than 72 square feet of ground contact, the largest in the industry!
      • 42" wide track belt with 105” of ground contact length with a 4-bogie design is available for models 2098, 1598 & 1398 and 87” of ground contact length with a 2-bogie design is available on models 1398 and 1198.
      • Exclusive rubber belt construction molds the tread, guide lugs and belt together as one piece, which increases durability and eliminates the need for glued on components.
      • Cast, pivoting mid-rollers are on the same plane as the main end-wheels for optimum flotation and increased belt life.
      • Shallow tread belt design provides greater flotation and traction.
      • 40" main end-wheels feature 10-bolt hubs that are greaseable with triple-lip seals and a steel guard for optimum lubrication.
      • Greaseable hubs with purgeable seals ensure the operator can push out any dirt and debris from the hub, increasing life and eliminating down time.
      • Hydraulic belt tensioning adjustment for easier track alignment, optimum ground contact and even weight distribution.
      • Conveniently located PSI gauge allows the operator to easily check pressure, ensuring the proper tension is being applied to the belt.
      • Standard auto-greaser system for automatic application at more frequent intervals for consistent lubrication.
    • A wide-axle option for the Equalizer track system is available for models 1598, 1398 and 1198 to provide added clearance in muddy conditions.

    Standard Tracks

    • The 36” wide track is available with 105” of ground contact length on the 4-bogie track (models 1598, 1398 & 1198), 87” of ground contact length on the 2-bogie track (model 1198) or 75” of ground contact length on the smaller 2-bogie track (model 1198).
      • The 105” and 87” ground contact tracks feature 40” main end wheels and 10-bolt hubs while the 75” ground contact track features 32” main end wheels and 8-bolt hubs.
      • Greaseable hubs feature triple-lip seals and a steel guard which prevents the seals from reversing so the operator can purge out any dirt and debris from the hub, maximizing the operational life.
      • Hydraulic belt tensioning adjustment for easier track alignment, optimum ground contact and even weight distribution.
